We count visits and downloads. We never learn who you are.
Counting tells us which pages help people and which builds they install. Each visit and each download stands on its own, so nothing links it to you or to your next visit.
What we count.
We use PostHog, hosted in the European Union, to add up the counts.
- On this website
- The page you open, the site that sent you here, and your browser and device type.
- When you install gitta
- The version and the build you download, how the download started (the install script, gitta update or Homebrew) and the country the request came from.
- When gitta checks for updates
- Once a day, gitta sends its version, your operating system and your CPU type to gitta.io, and to GitHub when gitta.io is out of reach. Set
GITTA_NO_UPDATE_CHECK=1to turn the check off. The install guide explains how updates work.
What we never keep.
Because nothing personal is stored, you see no cookie banner here. Your code never reaches us either, as gitta security explains.
- Your address
- We never store IP addresses. Downloads are counted by our own server, so PostHog never sees yours. For page views, PostHog throws the address away.
- Cookies and IDs
- The website sets no cookies and writes nothing to your browser. Every visit and every download gets a new random ID, so two visits never look like the same person.
- Profiles and recordings
- We make no profiles of people, and we never record what you do on a page.
